Moscow (The Times Groupe)- The Russian president Vladimir Putin has two sons with a gymnastics lover Alina Kabaeva, it has been claimed.
Putin’s first child with the 31-year-old gold medalist was said to have been born in secret and under tight security in 2015, according to a source connected with the obstetrician.
The second son was born in Moscow in 2019 with the same specialist who flew to Russia for the birth, the Swiss newspaper Sonntagszeitung reported.
Putin, 69, has long denied a relationship with Olympic gold medalist Kabaeva, now 38.
He has hidden the alleged secret family from voters – and was not present at any of the births.
But the report seems to confirm long-term speculation about a Putin-Kabaeva family – although previous allegations have suggested that the other child was a twin.
It also indicates that Kabaeva is the secret Russian first lady – but she has still not been sanctioned, in the middle of the war in Ukraine.
The source of the new report is said to be a personal friend of Kabaeva, who also knows the obstetrician – an unnamed Soviet-born doctor who has been acquainted with Putin for more than three decades and a longtime Swiss citizen who emigrated from Russia.
The newspaper reported: ‘Our source clearly states: “Alina’s relationship with Putin existed.
Their children – two sons – are Putin’s children.
“Alina had no other relationship. It would have been too dangerous for her.”
The obstetrician “maintained a trusting relationship with Putin,” according to the report.
In 2015, the Kremlin denied the birth.
It was Putin’s decision that the second son would be born in Moscow, the newspaper reported.
Kabaeva is believed to have begun his relationship with Putin in 2007.
She previously won gold at the 2000 Olympics, before being suspended in 2001 for failing a doping test.
New rumors suggested that she and her young children were hiding in a secluded Swiss cottage before the war.
Kabaeva made his first public appearance since the war began in Ukraine in Moscow last weekend and wore a wedding ring.
This followed rumors that she had been hiding in Switzerland – or in a high-tech Siberian nuclear power bunker.
The Russians were struck by Kabaeva’s new appearance last weekend, which sparked rumors of recent cosmetic surgery.
The Russian, Cosmopolitan said “something has really changed in Kabaeva’s face”, adding that “the legendary athlete was noticeably prettier”.
But publications are careful not to link her to Putin.
Putin’s imprisoned opposition leader Alexei Navalny has demanded sanctions against her.
Rumors first linked her romantically to Putin as long ago as 2008 when she was a pro-Kremlin MP.
Putin has two officially recognized children – Maria, 37, and Katerina, 35, both from his first wife Lyudmila.
Dr. Maria Vorontsova, a year younger than Kabaeva, born when the Russian president was a KGB spy in Germany, is an expert on rare genetic diseases in children.
She is a senior researcher at the National Medical Research Center for Endocrinology at Russia’s Ministry of Health.
Her divorced sister Katerina is the Deputy Head of the Institute for Mathematical Research of Complex Systems at Moscow State University.
She is a former ‘rock’ n ‘roll’ dancer.
Both daughters have been sanctioned by the West, unlike Kabaeva, and Putin’s unknown “love child” Luiza Rozova, 19.
Luiza is the daughter of the cleaner who became the multimillionaire Svetlana Krivonogikh, 45, now a partner in a major Russian bank, one of the country’s richest women with an estimated 74 million pounds of financial and real estate assets.
Putin – who in 2013 announced his divorce from Mrs Lyudmila, a former flight attendant from Aeroflot – has previously said: ‘I have a private life where I do not allow interference.
“It must be respected.”
