After Russia invaded Ukraine, president Zelenskyy immediately vowed to arm any of its citizens who volunteered to defend the country.
More than a million Ukrainians have fled to neighbouring countries to escape the fighting.
But others have decided to stay behind to join local formed territorial defence units to protect their country.
