Berlin (The Times Groupe)- The UK called on the G7 nations on Friday to increase pressure on Russia by supplying more weapons to Ukraine and expanding sanctions against it.
“It is imperative that we keep up the pressure on Russian President Vladimir Putin at this time by supplying more weapons to Ukraine and by increasing sanctions,” British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss told reporters, before heading to the G7 meeting of foreign ministers.
“Unity within the G7 has been crucial during this crisis to protect freedom and democracy. We will continue to work together to achieve that,” she said.
German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock is hosting the three-day meeting to discuss the Russia-Ukraine war and its regional and global repercussions in the Baltic Sea resort of Weissenhaus.
Additionally, Ukraine’s Dmytro Kuleba and Moldova’s Nicu Popescu will attend the meeting as guests.
