Moscow (The Times Groupe)- Russian Gazprom said Saturday that it had stopped supplying natural gas to Finland’s Gasum due to nonpayment.
The company stated in a written statement that Finland had to pay in rubles since April for its natural gas deliveries to Gasum and Finland, and that deliveries to the country were stopped on Saturday due to nonpayment.
Gazprom provided about 70% of Finland’s natural gas consumption last year.
The Finnish company said on Friday that it is prepared to deal with the situation if the gas flow stops on Saturday.
Last week, another Russian energy company, RAO, stopped exporting electricity to Finland for the same reason.
