Moscow (The Times Groupe)- Russian President Vladimir Putin warned on Sunday that Moscow would order strikes on new targets if the US supplied long-range rocket systems to Ukraine.
“If rockets are provided and we use them, we will employ our weapons in sufficient quantities to strike those facilities that so far have not been attacked,” Putin said in an interview with Rossiya-1 TV.
According to TASS, he claimed that the supply of US multiple launch rocket systems to Ukraine has essentially not changed anything as Ukraine already had similar armaments.
Regarding Ukraine’s alleged assurances to Western countries that these rocket systems would not be used against Russia, Putin said: “This has nothing to do with trust or distrust for the Ukrainian regime since it depends on the type of rockets the Americans supply.”
In addition, he said that Russia has destroyed 380 of Ukraine’s 515 rocket systems since the start of the war on Feb. 24.
“We believe the delivery of rocket systems by the United States and some other countries is related to making up for the loss of this equipment,” the Russian president said.
As the war in Ukraine’s eastern part continues, US President Joe Biden announced $700 million in additional security assistance.
“Biden said the new package will give them advanced weapons, including HIMARS (High Mobility Artillery Rocket System) to protect their territory from Russian advances.
