Brussels (The Times Groupe)- The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) is conducting exercises in Poland and the Baltic states to improve its air defense capabilities.

The exercise, called Ramstein Legacy 22, will take place between June 6-10.

NATO said on Monday that 17 allied and partner nations are participating in the exercise in Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia.

During the Russia-Ukraine war, “an increasing number of missiles, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and combat aircraft have been used close to NATO nations,” which threatens NATO territory and populations due to miscalculations or loss of guidance or control.

“Given the current security situation following the Russian invasion of Ukraine, large-scale training exercises like this are, now, more important to NATO than ever,” the statement quoted Gen. Jeff Harrigian, the commander of the Allied Air Command, as saying.

“We will leverage this opportunity to increase multi-domain interoperability and unit readiness. Ramstein Legacy enhances our ability to defend Alliance territory and is a clear expression of NATO’s commitment to regional security and stability,” Harrigian added.
