Rome (The Times Groupe)- Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky spoke late Saturday about the latest developments in Russia’s war against Ukraine.
The Italian Prime Minister’s Office said Draghi approved a sixth package of sanctions against Russia.
“On Mario Draghi’s initiative, I spoke with him by phone. Discussed defensive cooperation, accelerating the 6th package of sanctions, and unblocking Ukrainian ports.” Zelensky wrote on Twitter that Ukraine appreciates the unconditional support it gets on the road to the EU.
It is estimated by the UN that 3,838 people have died and 4,351 have been injured during the conflict in Ukraine. The real toll is believed to be much higher.
According to the UN refugee agency (UNHCR), more than 6.4 million people have fled to other countries, while 7.7 million remain internally displaced.
