London (The Times Groupe)- Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich was sanctioned by UK Government on March 10.
Last week, reports emerged claiming Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is demanding repayment of £1.5bn loan to club. He allegedly cannot profit from sale of Premier League club.
He has denied he wants his £1.5billion loan to Chelsea repaid, and pledged to give proceeds from the club’s sale to charity.
Abramovich put the club up for sale in March, just before he was sanctioned by the UK Government following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich said he wouldn’t ask for the repayment of any of the club’s loans and that the proceeds from the sale would go to a foundation for “all the victims of the war in Ukraine”.
The 55-year-old reiterates his commitment to give the money from the sale to charitable organisations after reports he was looking to recoup the loan.
Chelsea and Abramovich released a joint statement on Thursday evening saying that Abramovich’s intentions regarding the Chelsea sale proceeds have not changed.
